OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT
The Davis Institute has a busy outpatient department, which runs daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. Four consultant psychiatrists are available, to provide outpatient care to up to 60 patients per day. We are committed to excellent evidence based patient care.
DIAGNOSTIC TESTING
The Davis Institute of Neuropsychiatry provides the best in diagnostic testing by combining the sophisticated power of technology with the expertise of highly skilled physicians and technologists. The Davis Institute has an excellent clinical laboratory, where relevant investigations are done for both inpatients and outpatients. An X-Ray department is attached to the outpatient clinic, which is useful for all patiets. Many psychiatric patients have coexisting physical illnesses, which need to be diagnosed as part of their treatment work up.There are EEG (electroencephalograph) facilities attached to the outpatient department, which is useful for treating neurological conditions and epilepsy.
PHARMACY
We have a busy hospital pharmacy ( Davis Medical Hall), located in the outpatient department building. This caters to our patients.
INPATIENT WARDS
The Men’s Ward is a 2 story building, which can house up to 100 patients. It has double rooms with attached bathroom as well as shared rooms for patients. There is a dining room, toilets and bathrooms with hot water, an office ,nurses station, a treatment room, a psychology room and a doctors consulting room. It is fully staffed around the clock with nurses and ward aides. Similar facilities are available in the women’s ward. We also have a family ward with 11 family rooms with attached bathrooms with hot water supply. We encourage families to stay with the patients if possible. This is beneficial to reduce the stigma of mental illness, to provide family support and also to provide an environment for family therapy. Young persons under the age of 18 and children, can only be treated with family present .We also require that family stay with patients who are also seriously physically unwell.
PATIENT ACTIVITIES
During their inpatient stay, patients are encouraged to engage in group activities, and in occupational therapy sessions. This includes handicrafts and singing groups. They are also involved in special activities to celebrate festivals and religious holidays, relevant to their religious backgrounds.
KITCHENS AND CANTEEN
The Davis Institute has a large kitchen, which provide meals to inpatients and staff. We also have a canteen which caters to outpatients and families and provides special food to inpatients.
