Dr Vinod Kumar Sinha completed his M.B.B.S. degree from Government Medical College, Srinagar, in 1979. He completed Diploma in Psychological Medicine (D.P.M.) from Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi during 1981-1983 and M.D. (psychiatry) from Patna University during 1983-1985. He worked as a Senior Resident in Acute Adult Psychiatry at NIMHANS, Bangalore, from 1986-1989. He joined the faculty at Central institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi in 1990, where he worked as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, and Director Professor. He headed an Adult Psychiatric Unit consisting of 100 inpatients from 1992 to February 2017. He was head of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry unit in Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi from 1998-2017. He worked in Community Psychiatry in Central Institute of Psychiatry Ranchi, during which he saw patients at West Bokaro, Hazaribagh, Mahutanand and Chandankiare. He did School Mental Health Programs at St. Xavier’s School, Hazaribagh. He has more than 100 research papers to his credit in indexed journals. His areas of interest are Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychopharmacology, Phenomenology, Classification, and Community Psychiatry. He is currently working as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Davis Institute of Neuropsychiatry, Kanke, Ranchi. He regularly visits NIMHANS, Bangalore as an examiner for the DM course in Child Psychiatry. He is a dog lover and a fitness enthusiast.
